Understanding AI: A Brief Introduction
What is Artificial Intelligence?
Artificial Intelligence, often abbreviated as AI, is a subset of computer science that involves the creation of intelligent machines that can mimic human intelligence. It includes programming computers to perform tasks typically requiring human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, learning, and problem-solving.
The Origins of AI
The history of artificial intelligence has been marked by repeated cycles of extreme optimism and promise followed by disillusionment and disappointment. Today, AI technology is in a phase of rapid development, with serious implications for our society.
AI: Categories and Types
Artificial Intelligence can be categorized into two types: Weak AI and Strong AI. While Weak AI, also known as Narrow AI, is designed to perform a narrow task, Strong AI, also known as AGI (Artificial General Intelligence), exhibits behaviors equivalent to those of a human being.
